Apple officially unveils the ‘new iPad’

Apple has officially launched its next and the third version of the iPad on March 8. The next gen iPad as expected, boasts of a 9.7-inch Retina Display with high resolution of 2048 x 1536 and around 44 percent more colour saturation. It delivers four times the pixels, compared to the iPad 2, and the 3.1 million pixels in the Retina display are more than one million more pixels than an HDTV. It is powered by A5X dual core processor with quad-core graphics designed for swifter performance and responsive user experience to support the Retina display. It offers twice the performance, compared to A5 chip, with same power consumption.

Apple slashes iPad 2 prices; 16GB Wi-Fi version selling for Rs. 24,500

As the new iPad is creating a frenzy worldwide with its Retina display, quad core graphics , what has been also gaining a lot of momentum is the price cut that Apple has put on all the versions of its current hot selling tablet, the iPad 2. There has been close to a 3-5k price drop in all the current versions of the iPad 2. The 16GB Wi-Fi model is now selling for a price tag of Rs.24,500 (earlier Rs.29,500), the 16GB Wi-Fi +3G is selling now at a price of Rs.32,900 (earlier Rs.36,900). The 32GB Wi-Fi + 3G is selling now for Rs. 38,900 whilst the 32GB Wi-Fi is currently available for Rs.30,500.

Proview orders Chinese distributors to halt iPad sales

Close on the heels of new iPad launch, battle over the trademark term “iPad” intensified, in China. Proview Technology, who has been in the news over the months, owing to their alleged claims of owning the trademark term “iPad” in China, sent letter to iPad suppliers and resellers in China to halt the sales of the tablet computer in the country.  Both Proview  and Apple  are currently awaiting a verdict from the Higher People’s Court in Guangzhou, which is expected to arrive in the coming weeks.

Details of Angry Birds Space revealed

Angry Birds Space: NASA announcement All of us are waiting for the 22nd of March, when Angry Birds Space will be out, Rovio has put up a video on YouTube with NASA flight engineer, Don Pettit introducing the upcoming game from the International Space Station. The game will feature 60 new levels, will have six new characters, and will have zero gravity gameplay. Like earlier Angry Birds versions, more levels will be added in free updates; however, you can also add levels by in-app purchases.

Looking for  Assassin’s Creed action on your iPhone? Your wait is over. Assassin’s Creed Recollection is now available for iPhone via iTunes. Initially, the game was limited to iPads, but Ubisoft finally brought the game over to phones and that too for free! (at least for sometime.)

Analog cable to be phased out from 30th June, 2012 :

An amendment to Section 4A of the Cable Regulation Act, 1995 has now made it compulsory to implement mandatory addressable digitization (MAD), in a phased manner, pan India basis, starting June 30, 2012. Per the  amendment , by the 30th of June, 2012, existing analog cable signals will be shut down, disabling your local cable operator from transmitting any analog signals. Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai and Chennai. will make the transition from analog to completely digital by June 30. For Pune, Ahmedabad and Bangalore, the shift will come happen by March 2013 and the deadline issued for switching over to digital cable in urban areas is September 30, 2014, and for the entire country is by December 31, 2014.
